This is my contest entry for the "Train your Brain" contest

Its basically a small Will 'o Wisp thats main purpuse of existance is to guard those they are told to do so. They are intelligent, completely able to chose actions and descisions on its own. However, its main priority will always be the guarded one, above any other people around it.

They can be found wondering ancient ruins and abandoned fortresses of the Old Ones sometimes, where they still seek people to protect. Othervise they serve in the Mountain Forges of the Old Ones ^^

Interesting concept.
How does one of these go about it's daily life protecting people? I'm curious what they're like. Do they talk much to the guarded one? And how do they protect them?

Hm... I'd imagine these are working either as you would use a shield, just not exactly attached to your arm (and lol, you'd be need to be BIG to carry one like that

) or they are floating around you, flying into the way of big hits, arrows, falling rocks, ballista bolt, ect

I imagine them as talking in a whispering tone, like you'd hear a voice from a deep cave. They are not the most talkative creatures around tho

However, I do imagine they have personality, similarly like humans do. Of course they are quite limited at what they can do (they have no hands... but they can use the floating parts to mimic one!

), but inside those boundries quite a few possible personality type can emerge. One can be a joker, the other is a serious professional, ect ^^

Even though they are artificially created in the Great Forge in the mountain fortresses, after being born, they are a unique personality one by one ^^ They are like... a golem with a soul

Awesome, I'd hoped they'd be like that.
What we need is a character who has an overly cynical shield guardian, who makes witty, razor-sharp comments and has a sarcastic sense of humor.

Uhm... Not sure how the TES wisps are actually. I originated my idea on the usual mythology will 'o wisps. They have a nasty habit of luring people to deep swamps (and technically to their doom xD).
So I was thinking... what if they were made the polar opposit ? :3

Uhm... I think they are from the English + Europian folk tales. Will o' Wisp is also known by jack-o'-lantern, hinkypunk, and hobby lantern too

Its a ghostly visage, mostly thought of as spirits, ghosts, nature elementals, ect ^^ They are quite popular in games too actually

I've seen them in a variety of games, maybe called a bit othervise ^^ Usually simply "wisp"
